The wrestling world has lost a legend.

Ultimate Warrior, born James Brian Hellwig, died Tuesday evening at 54 years old. Hellwig -- who changed his name to Warrior back in 1993 -- was heading to his car with his wife, Dana, and and fell just outside of a hotel in Arizona at 5:50 p.m. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame just three days before. He was also featured on WWE's Raw one day before his tragic passing. This was his first appearance on the special since 1996.

WWE released an official statement on their site concerning the wrestling icon's death.

"WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior...We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans.WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior's family, friends and fans. Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters."

Ultimate Warrior made his mark in WWE in 1987 and instantly became a household name in the wrestling industry. One of his most career defining moments is when he became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI after defeating Hulk Hogan.

Fans have taken to their Twitter to express their sadness and send their condolences.

One wrote, "R.I.P. Ultimate Warrior, Only God Takes The Best! #RestInPiece"

Another added, "Dude #UltimateWarrior has passed! I remember watching him when I was younger!"

Another fan also reminisced his childhood with Ultimate Warrior and wrote, "Any kid who grew up watching wrestling knew who the Ultimate Warrior was. We all wanted to be the Ultimate Warrior."
