Best Male Performance, ‘MTV Movie Awards 2014’ Winner Is Josh Hutcherson For 'Hunger Games Catching Fire' [VIDEO]
The fans have spoken, and one of the most prestigious awards given out at the MTV Movie Awards has gone to Josh Hutcherson
Hutcherson beat out fellow nominees Bradley Cooper for American Hustle, Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf of Wall Street, Chiwetel Ejiofor for 12 Years a Slave, and Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club for the Best Male Performance Award for his work in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards April 13 in Los Angeles.
Previous winners of the award include Cooper, DiCaprio and Hutcherson, as well as Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron, Will Smith, Johnny Depp and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Bradley Cooper was previously nominated for his American Hustle role at this year's Academy Awards, Golden Globes and BAFTAs. He has also previously been an additional Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for Silver Linings Playbook. He previously won MTV Movie Awards for Best Male Performance and Best Kiss in Silver Linings. He has also been previously nominated for Best On-Screen Duo and Best Musical Moment, as well as Best Comedic Performance in The Hangover in 2009.
Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated for five Oscars and seven Golden Globes. He won a Golden Globe for Wolf of Wall Street in January. He won the Best Male Performance award at the MTV Movie Awards in 1998 and 2005 for Titanic and The Aviator. Previous nominations include Best Male Performance in Romeo + Juliet and Catch Me If You Can, Best Kiss for Romeo + Juliet, Titanic and Gangs of New York, Best On-Screen Duo for Romeo + Juliet, Titanic and Django Unchained, Best Jaw-Dropping Moment for Inception, and Best Villain for Django Unchained.
Chiwetel Ejiofor is a a newcomer on the scene, but has received Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for his work in 12 Years a Slave in addition to his MTV nomination.
Josh Hutcherson has previously won MTV Movie Awards for Best Male Performance and Best Fight in 2012 for The Hunger Games, and was previously nominated for Best Kiss in the film as well.
Matthew McConaughey is an Oscar and Golden Globe Winner for his role in Dallas Buyers Club. He previously won an MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance in 1997 for A Time to Kill.
