‘Law & Order: SVU’ Season 16 Renewal: Dick Wolf Neglecting Hit NBC Series, Leading To Cancellation? [VIDEO]
The hit NBC series, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, has been on the air for several years now, and renewed for 15 consecutive seasons. However, many SVU enthusiasts may be disappointed to learn that the show may not go on after its current season, as series creator Dick Wolf is focusing on other shows, and showrunner Warren Leight may jump ship.
The renewal of Law & Order: SVU remains to be seen, making it uncertain whether or not Olivia Benson and company will continue on to take down another criminal. According to a report Monday, "The future of Law & Order: SVU is in doubt as the deadline for renewal looms." At present, the popular police procedural crime show is the longest-running drama series television has to offer.
However, with Season 15 of the hit program winding down, the production costs for the show steadily increasing per season, and Wolf reportedly unwilling to accept another pay cut for the show, NBC's next move for the show is unclear.

Likewise, the network is scheduled to announce its official 2014-2015 program lineup in May at the Upfronts, which is a television executives meeting hosted at the start of important advertising sales periods. What's more, Wolf is currently working on other NBC shows like Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, while Leight is purportedly thinking about working on a new pilot.
