'House of Cards' Season 3 News: Netflix Series To Only Last For Three Seasons? [VIDEO]
House of Cards creator, Beau Willimon, spoke in detail about the Netflix series in a recent interaction with fans, where he answered a bunch of specific questions related to the show on May 14.
Vulture arranged for the exchange between Willimon and the show's fans. Willimon spoke about various plot twists, Frank's (Kevin Spacey) motivations and character storylines in season 2. Interestingly enough a fan also posed a question about the length of the Netflix series which is adapted from the original BBC show. The British original lasted for only three seasons which prompted the question. Willimon was obviously tight-lipped, simply stating, "I couldn't possibly comment."
Willimon answered very specific questions relating to the second season, but he also discussed the broader idea of Frank's morality and his megalomania, while addressing a question about the possibility of redemption for Frank:
"We don't really think about Frank's story in terms of redemption, because that presumes he operates on the same moral compass as most people do," he said. "Frank has his own code. And in his code, power is the most important thing, so you either have power or you don't. In his worldview, it's not a question of doing right or wrong, it's a question of, do you wield power or don't you? So, redemption in the conventional sense ... it's debatable whether he's capable of that or not, but it's the lens through which he sees the universe."
The third season of House of Cards will film in Maryland, where the first and second seasons were also shot. Initially, the continuation of filming of the third season of the Netflix series was fraught with troubles over the past few weeks as the producers weren't getting permission from the State of Maryland. But the issue was finally resolved on April 25.
