Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes Split: Actor Arrives SOLO At Airport On Way To Cannes; Girlfriend & Film Star Not Attending Huge Event? [PHOTOS, VIDEO]
As soon as they seemed to coyly confirm that they're still together, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have once again thrown fans for a loop about the status of their relationship.
Gosling Confirms Eva Mendes Engagement Rumors?
Just one week after the actor was spotted wearing a necklace with Mendes' dog's name engraved on it in San Francisco, he was back in Los Angeles and hopping a flight reportedly to the Cannes Film Festival -- solo and sans neckwear.
Reporters spotted Gosling at LAX, arriving for a flight and looking casual in a striped short-sleeved shirt and blue pants, which he accessorized with brown shoes, a brown belt, shades and a tan-and-brown backpack.
Eva Mendes 'Wearing the Pants' In Her Relationship?
He is likely on his way to the famed film festival, where his directorial debut Lost River will premiere in Un Certain Regard this week.
His solo arrival at the airport raised eyebrows, however, because his girlfriend of three years is one of the stars of the film -- but she didn't join her boyfriend for the flight to France.
The two have been spurring constant rumors of their on/off relationship for some time, as they haven't been spotted in public together since November 2013.
Rumors even stated at one point that Gosling was leaving his girlfriend to rekindle his relationship with former girlfriend and The Notebook co-star Rachel McAdams.
Sources told OK! Magazine in March that McAdams was trying to win Gosling back, and that he has been somewhat receptive to the idea.
"Rachel has been very low-key about it all," the source said at the time. "She's played it very smart and used the whole 'just friends' angle to get close to Ryan again, but she 100 percent wants him back. He' not the cheating type, but he hasn't been honest with Eva about how much contact he has with Rachel."
Gosling and McAdams' relationship, which ended after two years back in 2007, has been known as one which Gosling looks back at fondly. In an interview with GQ shortly after the couple broke up, he even called McAdams one of the great loves of his life.
"I mean, God bless The Notebook," Gosling said at the time. "It introduced me to one of the great loves of my life. But people do Rachel and me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie. Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more romantic than that."
However, rumors also claimed that those reports were false, and the actor and Mendes were actually secretly engaged and planning a wedding.
