Pop star Katy Perry reportedly revealed a secret about herself, including what she does to calm her nerves, leaving speculation on any issues she might have with her ex John Mayer.

On Thursday, The Independent posted a story on Perry on how she takes medication to deal with anxiety. While some may assume this could be related to personal issues with her love life, the singer mentioned that the anxiety comes from performing.

"I have to take beta blockers [before each show], I get so nervous," she said.

"[I think] that I have to get through this; I can't let these people down, but mostly I can't let myself down," Perry continued. "I've been given a great opportunity and there are 500 b------ behind me who will snatch my weave off my head if I don't kick-ball-change through this two-hour show."

The Birthday singer has graced the cover of Cosmopolitan for its July issue where she spoke of her ex-husband, Russell Brand. Apparently, it turns out that getting professional help was a way of dealing with stress.

"A lot of therapy has happened [since Russell Brand] and a lot of understanding and growth," Perry said. "Sometimes you have to go through all this s--- to get your grips on life, and figure out what your next boundaries in your love life and world are going to be."

"You have to go through the mud in order to find that peaceful place," she continued. "In the long run, it was necessary for me to have more of a teammate."
