Malia Obama has a summer job and unlike other children to have entered the political spotlight, the young Obama has chosen a uniquely creative outlet.

President Obama's fifteen-year-old daughter has landed a gig as a production assistant in Los Angeles for the new Halle Berry CBS drama, Extant.

According to The Wrap on Monday, Malia has been working on some of the more technical aspects of production.

The President has referred to his eldest daughter as "an aspiring filmmaker" and so the position on the Extant set is a suitable place for any young person in the industry to work her way up.

Malia's mother, Michelle Obama, is quoted in People as stating that her daughter shares a number of interests with her father. "She [Malia] is an avid reader," she explained, "And she enjoys movies...she also knows she has years in college to explore her interest."

Extant stars Berry (X Men, The Call) as an astronaut who returns from deployment into space for thirteen months to discover that she is pregnant, in spite of the fact that she'd spent her time in space alone.

The show was created and written by Mickey Fisher. Other cast members include Goran Visnjic and Camryn Manheim.

The CBS science fiction thriller, which is produced by famed director Steven Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park), has been recieving quite a bit of buzz. The show is scheduled to premiere on CBS July 9.
