Michael Douglas has had a few very rough years with his battle with throat cancer and his marital issues with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, but now it looks like the actor is back and stronger than ever while trying to make his wrongs into rights.

The 69-year-old Hollywood star recently opened up about his trial separation period with Zeta-Jones and how he is better appreciating his marriage all thanks to his age. The big screen star says that his number one priority is his family right now and trying to get his relationship with his wife back on track.

"A lot has to do with age," Douglas admits in a new interview with People Magazine. "When you've accomplished a certain amount in your career, you're not so focused on your ambitions. It makes you appreciate - and hopefully you do that sooner rather than later - the value of your partner."

Douglas also admits that he's been very open with his two children, 13-year-old Dylan and 11-year-old Carys, about the troubles in his life and that he's rather not hold anything back from them as they "figure everything out" anyway.

"I'm more and more prone to tell kids just about everything," Douglas adds. "There's been a whole school of thought about things you should not tell children - if there's a problem in a relationship, [people say], 'Let's not let the kids know.' Kids know. They know everything. I would err on the side of pretty much sharing everything. They can digest it, you know? It's life."

Douglas and Zeta-Jones announced their separation late last year, but have since been seen on the red carpet together. The couple has been married since 2000.
