The youngest member of the English royal family will finally be featured on some currency just ahead of his first birthday.

Prince George, the adorable son of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, will be the inspiration behind a new £5 coin that is being struck by the Royal Mint, and is expected to be released sometime before the young Prince's 1st birthday on July 22.

The coin, which will be a sterling silver piece and will feature the heraldic royal arms (four coats of arms each contained in a shield, and flanked by a rose, thistle, leek, a sprig of shamrock and a crown on one side), will also feature George's great-grandmother, her Majesty Queen Elizabeth on the other.

Though his face will not feature on the currency, it will still be dedicated to him because of the silver color, the metal traditionally associated with newborn babies. Crossing the palm of a newborn with silver was a traditional way of wishing the child wealth and good health for their lifetime.

"We felt there could be no more fitting design to mark the first birthday of our future king than the Royal Arms -- the arms of the monarch, minted in honour of the future heir to the throne," said Shane Bissett, Director of Commemorative Coin and Bullion at The Royal Mint.

Though the coin will have a value of £5, it won't be a regulation coin for everyday use. It will be a special edition piece selling for £80 each, and only 7,500 will be minted in total.

This won't be the first commemorative coin struck for the young royal, who is third-in-line for the throne. Coins were also minted for his October 2013 Christening and July birth.
