Angie Martinez Leaves Hot 97 for Power 105.1 Update; 'The Voice of New York' to Break Her Silence on The Breakfast Club Tomorrow [VIDEO] [PHOTOS]
"The Breakfast Club" may have their biggest interview yet, as they prepare for tomorrow's broadcast of Angie Martinez's first interview since her controversial decision to leave Hot 97.
Angie Martinez Announces That She's Leaving Hot 97
Over the weekend, fans were still recovering from the shock of what may be, the biggest radio power move of all time. In case you missed it, last Wednesday (June 18) "The Voice of New York" announced that she would be leaving Hot 97 during her last live show for that station. The very next morning, The Breakfast Club morning show broke the news that Angie Martinez would be joining Power 105.1, leading fans to speculate her reason for leaving the most iconic radio station in hip hop for its' rival.
Angela Yee, one of the co-hosts on the "World's Most Dangerous Morning Show", posted the following picture this morning, showing that the interview was indeed happening as promoted on Twitter over the weekend.
The Rumors Were True; Angie Martinez Joins Power 105.1 (and Miami's 93.7 The Beat)
Later, she posted a picture of Martinez with a celebratory cake made by TriState dessert-legend, Cakeman Raven.
Though the Power 105 social media accounts and various personalities have been sharing (and somewhat rubbing in) their excitement since they shared the news on Thursday, Angie Martinez's personal Instagram and Twitter accounts have not been touched.
Martinez has always had an immense amount of class and poise when it comes to dealing with touchy situations. After over 25 years in radio, and living through situations that often became life-or-death (ie; Biggie vs. Tupac, the East Coast vs. West Coast rap beef), the 43-year-old icon has always walked away seemingly unscathed by any inkling of drama.
The reason for her silence could be because she is not ready to talk, but it most likely is because she does not need to say anything. A decision was made, and though some fans on Twitter may not like it, Martinez will always be true to who she is and what she wants.
The interview will be released tomorrow, so until then, fans will watch and wait to learn how Martinez truly feels about leaving the station she lived and breathed for over 20 years, if she feels like telling it.
