Formerly troubled actress Amanda Bynes appears to be continuing with her stroke of good fortune as she makes the first official moves to a more independent lifestyle since being released from rehab in December 2013.

Judge Dismisses Amanda Bynes Bong-Tossing Case

The former child star, who faced several legal battles stemming from a string of bizarre behaviors in 2012 and 2013, is officially looking for an apartment of her own again, after living with her parents in their Thousand Oaks, Calif. residence for the past seven months.

The move is being spurred by good things however, as she is reportedly seeking the apartment in order to continue going to school at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

A source told In Touch Weekly that in order to graduate from the school, where she just finished her first year of classes, Bynes would need to relocate to the Los Angeles campus, prompting the decision to get a place of her own.

"She is motivated to get her degree," the source said. "Amanda has been looking for apartments in downtown LA for a couple of weeks."

The news that Bynes is looking for a place of her own comes just days after a New York judge made good on a promise that he would dismiss the charges she received for a bong-throwing incident last May, if she exhibited good behavior for six months and attended counseling sessions twice a week.

Almost one year ago, Bynes was placed in an involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold after setting a fire in her parents' neighbor's driveway. She underwent treatment in both a hospital and rehab facility, before finally being released into her parent's custody in December.

As of now, her parents are still acting as her conservators.
