Pier 39 is the big event with all day entertainment, including music from jazz band Mobility and '80s cover band Tainted Love. The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m., launching from Municipal pier and barges, according to their official website. The event is free.

Another free event is at Berkeley Marina, where there will be music, arts and crafts, food and Ben Cohen's Amend-O-Matic Stamp Mobile. The all-day event, which lasts from noon until 10 p.m. Friday, will also have fireworks.

In the North Bay, Angel Island will host their own celebration. There will be live music from the David Thom Band, food and a good viewing place for fireworks.

The Benicia Picnic in the Park & Fireworks event will also be taking place in the East Bay. The all day event will feature arts and crafts, food, live entertainment and some activities for children in City Park. There will also be fireworks on the waterfront starting at 9 p.m. The event starts at noon.

This feeling adventurous can take a hike up through the Bay Area Ridge Trail where fireworks will be viewable from the North Bay, with a fee of $10.

For a particularly romantic event, the San Francisco Symphony is holding an event at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. The 4th of July Spectacular features music from the movie set to fireworks starting at 8 p.m. Friday, with pricing between $24 and $35.
