Fresh off their Emmy nominations Thursday, the stars of Netflix's Orange is the New Black are reacting to the good news.

Orange is the New Black received 12 Emmy nominations Thursday, including five different cast members getting into acting categories. Among the lucky nominees are Taylor Schilling (who plays Piper) for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Kate Mulgrew (Red) for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Uzo Aduba (Suzanne/"Crazy Eyes"), Laverne Cox (Sophia) and Natasha Lyonne (Nicky) all for Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. The show itself was also nominated for Best Comedy Series.
Aduba told USA Today that she "could not be happier" in reaction to the show receiving 12 nominations. However, she is taking the news much more calmly than her character Suzanne would, she speculated.

"She would be running down the streets of New York," Aduba said, laughing. "Screaming and also writing a very long-winded letter to the Academy."
Meanwhile, Schilling told the publication that her very first nomination was "a dream come true," noting, "there's this part of me that's like, wow I'm really doing it, this is real now. It's just so nice to be acknowledged."
Mulgrew told USA Today that being recognized by the Television Academy is "so joyful at this stage in my life."
Cox noted to Vulture that she was the first trans actress to be nominated for an Emmy, ever.
"I'm the first trans actress to be nominated for an Emmy - out trans actress, anyway. That feels like history," she said. "Even if I don't win ... Honestly, it doesn't even matter if I win. [Laughs.] It doesn't! I'm nominated for an Emmy!"
Lyonne told The New York Times that she didn't even believe that she was nominated when she first heard the news.
"You know, pretty excited," she said when asked how she felt about receiving a nomination. "I'm on an airplane, about to take off. This is highly illegal, which is in keeping. I'm breaking the law. They keep saying, 'Shut off your phone,' and I'm saying, 'Make me. I dare you. You're going to have to handcuff me if you want me to get off my phone right now.' But I'm over the moon."
Orange is the New Black is up against The Big Bang Theory, Louie, Modern Family, Silicon Valley and Veep in the Best Comedy Series category. The envelopes will be opened on Monday, Aug 25 at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST at the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, on NBC.
