The couple hasn't confirmed the news through their reps, though Mendes was spotted out in public just after the news broke on July 9, desperately trying to hide her stomach from paparazzi who were snapping her photo.
The couple may not be willing to confirm the news, keeping with their intensely private lives, but talk show host Ellen DeGeneres didn't hesitate to congratulate the couple on Twitter after the news broke.
"Congrats to @RyanGosling and @EvaMendes! That's going to be the most beautiful, part-superhero, well-dressed, romantic baby ever," she wrote.
And as fans have lamented and shed some tears over the news, others have wondered if the expecting couple will finally tie the knot as a result.
According to Hollywood Life though, it doesn't appear that marriage plans are scheduled for anytime soon--which could potentially be driving a wedge into the couple's otherwise very-happy news.
"Ryan doesn't think they need to marry just because they are having a baby," a source was quoted as saying.
However, Mendes has apparently disagreed with her beau, as she wants to be married before the baby is born.
"Eva believes it's important to have their lives fully intertwined," the source said.
