According to Radar Online, The Life and Career of Ellen DeGeneres by author Randy Jernigan will provide an inside look to the up and down world of DeGeneres and de Rossi.

"Many fans don't know that Ellen and Portia have had a very tumultuous romance since the very beginning," the author told the website. He reportedly spoke with 13 of the talk show host's friends and family members for the new book.

Jernigan also says that a lot of the couple's troubles come from de Rossi's self-esteem issues. "She loves attention because she's secretly so insecure," he said. "She also hates that her career is in the dumps."

Was Ellen DeGeneres' Work Schedule Another Marital Strain?

It was recently reported that de Rossi entered rehab in May for 30 days to deal with apparent alcohol issues. Despite any issues, however, they two seem to be working through them. People even reported that it wouldn't be a surprise to friends if they renewed their wedding vows this August. "They both love to celebrate special occasions and holidays, and their wedding anniversary is no different," a source told the magazine.

Jernigan agreed saying that they "both care for each other very much, but neither is good at the whole give and take aspect of a relationship."
