Though news of her pregnancy shocked the world, actress Eva Mendes may have been bluffing all those times she previously claimed to have no interest in being a mother.
Ryan Gosling 'Doting On Pregnant Eva Mendes?
In fact, a new report claims that her pregnancy with boyfriend Ryan Gosling is something she very much wanted-and she just downplayed parenthood talk for years because she wasn't sure if it was going to happen for her.
'Eva downplayed having a family because she didn't know whether it was going to happen for her, but she has always wanted to be a mom," a source reportedly told British magazine Closer July 20. "Ryan is being really supportive, and they can't wait for their little arrival."
News that Mendes was actually seven-months pregnant with her Place Beyond the Pines co-star's baby broke July 9, and the actress was spotted by photographers that day, trying to keep her belly covered.
Mendes had virtually disappeared from the spotlight in recent months, reportedly due to her pregnancy-helping the ultra-private couple keep the news a secret until they were ready to share it.
People Magazine reports that's exactly how the couple wanted things though, saying Mendes, who is due in October, "just hasn't wanted anyone beyond her close friends and family knowing more than they had to," and that Gosling "is certainly private and always has been" as well.
The couple, who were rarely seen in public together, has changed their lifestyle in order to prepare for their impending bundle of joy however, with Gosling doting on his pregnant girlfriend and doing everything he could to ensure the secret didn't get out before they were ready.
"Their lives completely changed as soon as Eva got pregnant," a source said. "They used to travel all over the place together and go on hikes with their dogs."
"Ryan has been taking care of her, picking up food and running errands. He has been very supportive about keeping things a secret," the source added.
However, despite the initial surprise about their news, the couple is reportedly excited for the next chapter of their lives.
"This has been a long time coming," a pal reportedly said. "Ryan and Eva definitely discussed children before. She knows how much he wants to be a dad and he's going to be an amazing father."
