Angie Martinez, Power 105.1; 'Voice of New York' Settles In, Gets Exclusive Interview with Terror Squad Rapper Remy Ma, From Jail [AUDIO] [QUOTES]
Angie Martinez is slowly but surely settling in to her new position at Power 105.1, bringing some of the biggest names in music on the first weeks of her afternoon show. Just hours ago, she caught up with former Terror Squad first lady Remy Ma.
Unlike most of the exclusive interviews she gets, the subject did not sit in-studio, the conversation took place over the phone-and the caller dialed in from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women.
Angie Martinez Reveals Why She Left Hot 97 in First Interview on The Breakfast Club
After Angie and her team accepted the charges, a highly-spirited Remy Ma was allowed just under 15 minutes to discuss what life will be like when she gets out in "9 days and a wake up," as she put it.
Here is what we learned from her interview with Angie Martinez.
1) It's been 6 years, 4 months, 4 days since she's had a pedicure.
"When you are in here... You can't do the little things."
2) She's not going to go to Disney World when she gets out.
"I'm going to see my PR, I don't want no problems."
3) She's still the pretty much same girl from the Bronx--good or bad.
"In a lot of the ways, I haven't changed. I grew up a lot and I look at things a lot differently... But, personally I realized I was really crazy. "
4) She's been writing... a lot.
"What?! Have I been writing? I canNOT wait! This is going to be unfair."
5) She's even surprised that her husband, rapper Papoose, held her down and she's nervous for the life change.
"We were living together, but at the end of the day... I could leave when I wanted... Now, after you hold somebody down for 6 ½ years, it's kinda serious! You gotta respect that. That's official... I'm still shocked."
6) She somewhat made up with Fat Joe.
"That was one of my epiphanies that I had... I called him, Joe was being Joe... But at the end of the it, we had great conversation. We didn't dive too much into why he was mad or why I was mad... But once I love you, I love you. I could never hate him."
7) She has a few record deals on the table.
"Yea, there are more than a couple of deals are on the table. I'll be there next week... I didn't want to sign anything as major as a deal, from here."
8) She had a few things to say about Nicki Minaj and to all female rappers.
"Nik has always been a supporter, well one little thing in the beginning, but it's been love since then and vice versa... I like what she's done! She's done wonderful things for females, but I don't know what they're doing. They're letting these guys take over."
9) She's going to be filming a reality show.
They're making me do it. I keep telling them 'No! It's too real!" They don't want to listen to me. It's happening, but it's about my career and me leaving here.
10) People know she is "Remy Ma" in jail.
"I'm kind of a big deal... It depends on what day it is. One day they want to lock me up and throw away the key, and the next they are like, 'Oh no! That's Rem! Don't do that to her."
11) She's getting out early for a major accomplishment.
"I got my degree in sociology and... That helped me get out six months early."
12) Her last words went something like this:
"I just want everybody to be nice! Stand back... It's not going to be fair, my pen game is crazy!"
