The latest trailer for Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley latest film, The Imitation Game, has been released in time for The Weinstein Company to begin making an awards push early.

The Imitation Game stars Cumberbatch as Alan Turing and chronicles the true-story tale about the man credited with cracking the German Enigma code, and the race against time he and his team faced at Britain's top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II.

Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment (read: he was persecuted for his homosexuality), but his work and legacy live on.

Benedict Cumberbatch Thought Sherlock Role Was "Cheap & Cheesy" Before First Season?

Cumberbatch, who has earned praise for his roles in Sherlock and The Hobbit, looks like he will finally have a strong film behind him to lead. Many thought last year's The Fifth Estate, about Julian Assage and WikiLeaks, would be that film but poor critical response and commercial return showed it was a flop instead.

The trailer plays a little off of the magic The Weinstein Company still thinks is out there after the success of The King's Speech and Philomena by using a playful score and short shots of what the plot seems to be conveying in both tone and emotion.

Cumberbatch looks like he is giving it his all as Turing and this looks like it could finally be the role that nets him an Oscar nomination.

The Imitation Game is directed by Morten Tyldum and opens on November 21. It will have its European Premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.
