On Friday Shelton announced the title, cover, and release date for his upcoming album when he sat down to talk with Today. While the singer has been teasing work on some new material on Twitter for weeks now, this is the first major news to come out about that work.

Bringing Back The Shine will be released by Warner Bros. Records on September 30, 2014.

The black and white cover, which displays rays of light peering out through the clouds over an ADA water tower harkens back to Shelton's Oklahoma roots. The singer was born in Ada, OK in 1976 and has been heavily influenced by his background over the years.

The musician's new record will have some fierce competition, including Lambert's Platinum album, released June 3, which continues to dominate the charts. The records will also be competing when award season rolls around, which could cause a bit of friendly friction in the Shelton-Lambert household.

The couple will meet up towards the end of their summer tours to perform in Las Vegas this fall for the Harvest 1 Festival. Then Shelton returns to the small screen on NBC to serve as mentor for The Voice signing competition on September 22, 2014.
