This week, while promoting a new project he is directing with Axe called Gold Temptation, actor Michael B. Jordan discussed his new role in the reboot of "Fantastic Four." After an official announcement confirmed that he would play 'The Human Torch,' a select group of fans criticized the casting directors for choosing someone who had a different skin color.

And yes, it's 2014. Even though his remarkable work in "Fruitvale Station", "Friday Night Lights" and "The Wire" clearly make him qualified to play the part, many fans shared their disgust with the choice on social media when the decision was announced in February.

In a new interview with Huff Post Live, the "Friday Night Lights" actor revealed how he feels about the situation now that the project has wrapped filming.

"At the end of the day, I think it's a continuity issue where a lot of the hardcore comic book fans are used to seeing something they grew up with" Jordan explained to HPL host Marc Lamont Hill. "Anything they are not used to, they are going to resist or deviate against until they see it and they're like, 'Oh I didn't know I was going to like that."

The 27-year-old has paid his dues in the acting industry, and even though some fans may not agree, Fox wants this to be a "fresh" take on an old classic.

He added, "You have to evolve with the times, it's not the 1950s, this is 2015... If you don't evolve, you're not living."
