'American Horror Story' Season 4 Cast: Michael Chiklis Previews 'Swamps' & 'Spanish Moss' Featured In 'Freak Show' [VIDEO]
Michael Chiklis is one of the new stars of FX's American Horror Story and the actor is still getting used to the show's creepy atmosphere.
Chiklis spoke to NOLA.com about his upcoming appearance on American Horror Story: Freak Show, the fourth installment in the horror anthology series. The actor is set to play Wendell Del Toledo, the ex-husband of one of the "freaks" Effil Darling (Kathy Bates) and the current husband of another "freak" Desiree Dupree (Angela Bassett).
The 50-year-old actor previewed a few of the locations used for the series, which films in New Orleans.

"Anyplace that embraces sort of voodoo and ghosts and stuff -- it works in a horror context, and there are some pretty creepy locations, man," Chiklis admitted. "And also just being out in the swamp and the Spanish moss, you shoot that (stuff) at night and --wooo, ahhh! -- it sends shivers up your spine!"
Chiklis also confirmed what other cast members had been saying, in that Freak Show will be a mix of Asylum and Coven.
"I can tell you, if you're a fan of American Horror Story, tonally it's somewhere in the middle between last year's show, Coven, and the prior year's, Asylum. It's darker than Coven but it has some of the humorous elements of Coven as well. It is scary, but there's some funny stuff too, and I've got to tell you: What a cast. I've never seen anything like it in my life. I mean, to go on-set and be working with the great Jessica Lange and Angela Bassett and Sarah Paulson and Miss Kathy Bates and all these wonderful actors. It's awesome."
FX just announced the premiere date for Freak Show. The new season will be premiering Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. on the network.
