OS X Mountain Lion Release Date is Today; Check if Eligible for Free Upgrade
Apple released the latest version of its operating system, the OS X Mountain Lion today.
The latest OS can be purchased from the Mac App store for $19.99 at Apple's official website.
This new operating system will be available for when purchasing one of the latest Mac models. Customers who have purchased a Mac on June 11 or later will be eligible to get it for free as part of a free upgrade.
Mountain Lion offers more than 200 new features. Highlights of the new features include integration of iCloud, Twitter, iOS mobile operating system and iMessages.
After downloading the OS X Mountain Lion, the system will ask users to enter their Apple ID andset up iCloud, FaceTime and grant access directly to the iTunes Store and Mac App Store.
iCloud has many benefits: it allows you to sync email, contacts, calendar, messages, reminders and notes to other Apple devices. Documents in the Cloud works with iCloud-enabled apps, including Apple's iWork suite and you can access all of these files from anywhere with Wi-Fi.
Mac's former instant messaging app, iChat has been replaced with iMessages. Messages can be sent to anyone with all other Apple devices including the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or another Mac. Users can also attach videos and photos to their messages.
The Game Center app you can play games with anyone using another Apple device such as a Mac, iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch from your Mac. Social media integration includes sending tweets from your Twitter account no matter what app you're in. The new Tweet sheet allows you to send tweets consisted of links and/or photos from Safari, iPhoto, or Photo Booth.
