'X-Men: Apocalypse' News: Channing Tatum's Gambit Could Be Revealed As The Archangel Of Death, Join Apocalypse But End Up With Good Guys [VIDEO]
Rather outspoken about taking on the role, it is no secret that Channing Tatum really wants to play Gambit in either a standalone movie or one of the upcoming X-Men series installments. But could the actor be introduced to the franchise as a villain before coming over to the side of the X-Men?
Who Is Apocalypse & Will He Show Up Past The Next X-Men Movie?
MoviePilot speculated a few names that could appear as the Angel of Death in X-Men: Apocalypse and thought that this would allow for the franchise to introduce Gambit to the series.
According to the site, in the comics, Gambit joins Apocalypse in order to infiltrate the Horsemen and sabotage the plans of En Sabah Nur, but the powers of Apocalypse are so strong that his mind becomes warped, and he begins to believe in the plans of Mutant Domination.
While Gambit would be an adversary at the beginning, he could be saved by the X-Men by the end and be able to join up with the team by the end of the movie. It would also allow for Tatum to be introduced in the role and possibly lead to a standalone movie depending on how well received the performance goes.
Gambit is a fan favorite character and having him introduced would be big for the franchise, and allow the series to fix the poor representation from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It also would put Tatum in the role he is dying to play and maybe give the actor a mini-franchise.
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
