Blake Shelton is one country artist who takes the time to communicate with his fans individually on social media and it looks like the singer might be just as generous in person as he is online.
Blake Shelton Dishes On Marriage & 'Embarrassing' CMA Nominations
Shelton was performing at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in California on Thursday when he called up a military family for his performance of Home.
According to UT San Diego on Monday, Marie Esther and Roland Kiendrebeogo stood on stage in their Navy uniforms along with their 14-year-old son as Shelton serenaded the family. The family stood together proudly with smiles on their faces.
Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert $1 Million Controversy
The performance was especially moving for the parents given the fact that Shelton was the first musician Esther and Roland found upon coming to the United States. They are originally from West Africa. Apparently Esther had attended college in Oklahoma, Shelton's home state, at Southern Nazarene University. She soon found herself a fan of the country singer's tunes, and years later she and Roland were afforded the opportunity of a lifetime as they stood onstage with Shelton himself.
Shelton original performed his rendition of Home in 2009. He went on to sing the song in a number of duets, including one with Miranda Lambert (featured below) that very same year. He and Lambert didn't get married however until two years later in 2011.
Shelton's newest album Bringing Back The Shine hits stores September 30.
