2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony Schedule: Live Online Stream is Not Free [VIDEO]
The 2012 Summer Olympic schedule will kick off today at the opening ceremony in London at 9PM. The worldwide TV event is expected to broadcast live for over 1 billion people. While those streaming online can catch a live viewiing through NBC at 4PM EST, the service for the opening ceremony is not free.
The 2012 Olympic schedule of gaming events will be streamed online without cost. However, to watch the opening ceremony, which is costing the city 27 million British pounds ($42.43 billion), the website will ask for TV provider and subscription information, and whether you have "a cable, satellite or telco TV subscription that includes MSNBC and CNBC," the NBC live streaming website describes.
According to the 2012 London Olympic website, "the Opening Ceremony is a celebration showcasing the best of the host nation. It also features a parade of all competing nations and the highly anticipated entrance of the Olympic flame, which ignites the cauldron and signals the start of the Games."
The Olympic opening ceremony schedule will anticipate 10,000 of the most elite athletes from over 200 countries and even more fans cheering on their representatives. The staging of the event in London is said to be equivalent to the size of 12 Olympic-sized swimming pools--15,000 Square Meters.
Zap2It reports that the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony will feature James Bond (actor, Daniel Craig) coming down a rope ladder, suspended in the air from a helicopter, while the Bond theme music plays over the stadium speakers.
The ceremony will be directed by British filmmaker, Danny Boyle and Stephen Daldry. The theme of night will be "Isles of Wonder," inspired by the Shakespearean play, "The Tempest."
Boyle, Zap2It continued to report, will screen a short film he directed in which 007 tells Queen Elizabeth to begin the Olympics games.
A replay of the opening ceremony will be aired on TV, NBC at 7:30PM EST.
