One of the stars of Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place is set to exchange magic for the carnival, having been newly cast in FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Skyler Samuels, who played Gigi on the Disney Channel series, is slated for a major recurring role in American Horror Story: Freak Show, according to a new report by The Hollywood Reporter.

The 20-year-old actress, who also starred in the short-lived Nine Lives of Chloe King, is set to play a "pivotal character" and is only described as "a local who finds herself in a tough situation." No other details surrounding her character are known to the public at this time.

American Horror Story: Freak Show takes place in 1952 and centers on one of the last remaining freak shows in America, set in Jupiter, Fla. Jessica Lange's new character Elsa Mars is the owner of the freak show, which is comprised of such colorful characters as the bearded lady Ethel Darling (Kathy Bates), conjoined twins Dot and Bette Tattler (Sarah Paulson), a "lobster boy" Jimmy Darling (Evan Peters) and a three-breasted woman Desiree DuPree (Angela Bassett).

Among those not in the freak show are Gloria Mott (Frances Conroy), a society woman whose son Dandy (Finn Wittrock) wishes to join the freak show, con artists Stanley (Denis O'Hare) and Maggie (Emma Roberts) and Twisty the Clown (John Carroll Lynch), the season's main villain.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
