Keith Urban stepped down from his role as judge on Fox's American Idol this week, though he will return later in the season.
Keith Urban Drops Everything After Nicole Kidman's Father Dies
On Monday The Wrap reported that the country musician has taken a leave of absence from the series to be with wife and actress Nicole Kidman, who lost her father, Tony Kidman, last week.
Adam Lambert, runner-up from season 8, took his place on Wednesday during the season 14 auditions at Nassau Coliseum. The reality program does not return to television until 2015 and so there is plenty of time for Urban to return, though the singer is in no hurry.

A distinguished clinical psychiatrist, Dr. Kidman passed away on Thursday after suffering a fall in his hotel. He'd been on a visit to see his daughter Antonia in Singapore. Dr. Kidman was rushed to the hospital for what was believed to be a heart attack. He was pronounced dead at 10 a.m.
According to E! on Friday, Urban cancelled his California performances upon hearing of his father-in-law's passing.
A representative for the family released a statement asking for privacy as the actress mourns the loss of her father.
"Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father," read the statement. "She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly request privacy during this very difficult time. Thank you."
A formal cause of death has not been released at this time.
