Watch Team USA tennis player Serena Williams compete against Serbia's Jelena Jankovic for the singles gold medal at 2pm ET online on Day 1 of the London Games.

Williams, who currently ranks number 4 in the world, represents Team USA's best chance to win a gold today for her first single gold medal win.

Williams won two straight sets 6-3, 6-1 and defeated Jelena Jankovic.

Williams, 30 has won double gold medals at the 2000 Sydney and 2008 Beijing games when partnered with her sister Venus. Williams also has 29 Grand Slam title wins which includes 14 singles, 13 doubles and two mixed doubles in addition to her five Wimbledon wins.

Serena lost at the quarterfinals in Beijing and did not compete in Athens. She won the doubles gold in Sydney but didn't compete in the singles.
