Olympic Basketball 2012: LeBron James and Team USA Take On Tony Parker and France at 9:30 am ET [WATCH ONLINE, LIVE STREAM]
Team USA Men's Basketball will kick off their quest to for more gold at 9:30 am eastern time today when they face off against France.
Although the redeem team boasts the most NBA players over any other team in the London games, France is second; as their most notable name is San Antonio's Tony Parker. They also have some other well knowns in Ronny Turiaf, Nicolas Batum and Boris Diaw.
While Team USA is heavily favored against the French, their defense is indeed one of the best amongst the competition.
USA Coach Mike Kryzewskic not underestimating the importance of today's game, had the following to say regarding the opening matchup:
"France is a good test at any time, but as far as us getting right into it, to play the French team is going to be a very important game for us,"
During their exhibition matchups, Team USA did look impressive overall. However, they did almost suffer a loss at the hands of Argentina in an 86-80 final score.
When asked how the current team stacks up against the gold medal winners of "08," Brooklyn Nets and Team USA's Deron Williams had this to say:
"We feel like we are all better players now," Williams said.
"We were a good team last time, but we have more experience in general and that is going to help," Williams continued.
Team USA has accrued 19 gold medals while France only has just 2 silver overall.
