Jennifer Hudson released her third studio album on Tuesday (Sept. 21) and sat down with Power 105.1's morning show, "The Breakfast Club," to promote it. The 33-year-old is exploring a new, edgy and more mature sound with her music this time around in "J. Hud." She worked with new producers, new songwriters and had a new attitude while recording.

The mom and soon-to-be wife sat down with Charlamagne tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee to discuss everything from the violence in her hometown to when she will finally walk down the aisle with her Harvard-Law-Reality-TV-Wrestling-Star husband. To watch the 20 minute interview, scroll down.

In the mean time, here are the 20 Things We Learned While Watching J. Hud on The Breakfast Club:

K. Michelle Lets Soulja Boy Have It on 'The Breakfast Club'

1. She named her new album "J. Hud" because that's the nickname her fans call her. When people call her Jennifer Hudson, they treat her differently than just 'J. Hud.' Similar to the feel of the album, the nickname is more down to earth.

2. Though she is no longer the spokesperson for Weight Watchers, she maintains her weight by making sure she sticks to what she learned while with the program.

3. J. Hud released her first album, played Effie White in "Dreamgirls" and won an Oscar all in the first few years of fame. Now, she admits that the pressure to succeed was heightened because of her initial soar to fame but she tries not to let it get to her.

4. She wants more people to go to Chicago to witness the violence that is happening to bring attention to the major problem. More importantly, she wants kids to know, "There's more to life than the block you live on." She even has a foundation named for her late nephew, Julian.

5. Jennifer wants light to be shed on every murder or tragic shooting that happens in the US, not just when a white person shoots a black kid like the Michael Brown tragedy that still has America upset.

6. Her husband, David Otunga, no longer goes by "Punk." She actually saw him and thought he was cute, but did not force. Later, the stars aligned and the two ended up getting married.

7. Jen doesn't mind the fat jokes. Charlamagne had a few of them.

8. Little David, her 5-year-old son, loves Michael Jackson-- making Hudson his second favorite artist.

9. Pharrell produced three songs on her new album. Timbaland also produced her single "Walk It Out."

10. In her next movie role, she hopes to play "The Queen of Soul," Aretha Franklin. She would even gain weight for the role.

11. She also wants to have a little girl, soon. But, not before she goes on tour.

12. When she played Effie White in "Dreamgirls", she learned how to act for the first time.

13. And no, she never had any beef on-set with Beyoncé.

14. She keeps in touch with her American Idol cast mates, even though she lost which she refers to as "the best thing that ever happened" to her.

15. Just an amazing quote for life from J. Hud: "No one knows your potential like you do."

16. Jennifer Hudson's favorite singer is Mali Music.

17. When asked what she thought of K. Michelle and todays' current R&B stars, she said, "To me, this industry is like X-Men, we all have our own special powers."

18. She fanned out when she met Whitney Houston and Prince. While they were performing together, she recalls literally screaming when she saw his on stage.

19. She thinks Chris Brown is a "cutie."

20. She's not in a hurry to get married to David and little David was not planned.
