Teresa Giudice's Legal Team Reveals Sentencing Was 'Unexpected'

In her first interview since the sentence, Giudice spoke with Watch What Happens Live's Andy Cohen on getting jail time after it was speculated she did not think she would have to serve at all.

A flustered Giudice said in the episode that aired on Bravo Monday, "My nerves were shot. I've had sleepless nights. I was shocked. It was very unexpected. I don't even know what to say. I really don't know what to say."

As far as rumors that she has been in denial regarding whether she will go to jail, Giudice said the experience has taught her about how to do business.

"I do need to read things before I sign them. I do need to understand things before I sign them. I'm a trustworthy person. Sometimes I take what other people say and I believe them and I trust them and I can't do that anymore."

Giudice's husband, Joe Giudice, was sentenced to three years in jail. The couple pleaded guilty to several fraud charges earlier this year including tax evasion and loan. She also opened up with Cohen on her biggest fears when it comes to spending time behind bars.

On the verge of tears she said, "I just think about my daughters. That's all I think about. I just wanna make sure my daughters are okay. That's all I want. I just want [Joe] to be with them all the time."

She added that she wants them to visit her all the time and talk to them every day on the phone.

Teresa will begin her sentence in January and Joe will start once she is finished.
