Amanda Bynes Twitter: Troubled Actress Resurfaces On Social Media Accounts, Blasts Media Portrayals Of Her One Day After Posting Smoking PHOTO on Instagram
After bursting back into the spotlight following months of silence, Amanda Bynes has now resurfaced on her official Twitter account to blast the media for claiming she has returned to the behaviors that led to an involuntary rehab stay in 2013.
Amanda Bynes Heads To New York After DUI Arrest
Following a DUI arrest in California on September 28 and some sightings in New York that have also added to concern that she is in trouble again, Bynes took to Twitter to defend herself and told her fans not to believe the things being said about her.
"Don't believe anything the tabloids are saying about me. They dislike me for some odd reason & they continue to insult me everyday," she wrote early in the morning on October 7.
She followed that tweet up with a reminder that people shouldn't treat others in a way they wouldn't want, and went on to inform fans she will now be living in New York and plans to attend classes at either NYU or Columbia University--but doesn't encourage stalking her.
"I'm transferring to NYU or Columbia from FIDM to study psychology, so you'll see me in New York if you live here but I HATE stalkers!" she wrote.
Though the posts do seem to negate claims she is exhibiting troubling behavior again, they also come one day after the former actress-turned-fashion-design-student posted an image to her official Instagram account of someone (it is unclear who) smoking what appears to be a joint. Byne's previous problems were attributed to her marijuana use--should her family and friends be worried?
"Amanda has no mental illness whatsoever," her mother, Lynn Bynes told E! News back in April. "She has never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar. Amanda is very sorry for all the hurtful tweets, statements and actions that occurred while she was under the influence of marijuana."
Bynes' attorney, Tamar Arminak also claimed the former actress had never been diagnosed with schizophrenia, despite initial reports following her placement in an involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold in July 2013 which claimed she suffered from mental illness.
"There has been much speculation about Amanda's medical condition. She has remained silent because she believed it was best to keep her mental health diagnosis private," Arminak told People at the time. "However, she has asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it."
"Amanda is currently on zero medication," Arminak added. "She's devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She's never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she's proud to say she has been marijuana-free for the past nine months."
