Stephen Collins Child Molestation: Ex-Wife Faye Grant Threatened '7th Heaven' Actor With Audiotape For Money?
Shortly after news of Stephen Collins' confession to child molestation surfaced online, his legal team spoke out.
Los Angeles-based lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan spoke to TMZ and revealed that Collins' ex-wife Faye Grant used the tapes to obtain money.
"Over the course of my representation of Stephen in the divorce case, Faye has repeatedly threatened to give this audiotape to the media unless Stephen agreed to pay her millions of dollars more than that to which she was legally entitled," he said.
"When these demands were rebuffed, Faye attempted - without success - to peddle the tape in numerous ways to numerous different people. It appears that she has finally found an audience for this tape - not surprisingly, on the eve of the trial in the divorce case where, again, she is seeking millions of dollars more than that to which she is legally entitled."

Kaplan, however, wasn't able to speak on the explicit tapes posted by the website on Tuesday. "Though we would like to address the tape itself, the circumstances dictate that we must regrettably refrain from doing so at this time," he said.
The tapes feature Collins telling Grant that he molested three underage girls in the past. The former 7th Heaven actor told Grant about his inappropriate behavior in 2012 and then during a visit to a therapist she taped him discussing it again. It's noted that Grant's lawyer told her it's permissible in California to tape a person who committed a crime without their knowledge.
