Ansari made an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman Monday and revealed that he has just realized he is a feminist.
He said his girlfriend practices the same views which caused him to have a different perspective on it. He went on to define a feminist as one who believes men and women should have equal rights.

When the audience didn't seem to catch on, he made light of the situation and joked about a couple he knew would get their attention- Beyonce and Jay Z.
"You're a feminist if you go to a Jay Z and Beyonce concert and you're not like, 'I feel like Beyonce should get 23 percent less money than Jay Z. Also, I don't think Beyonce should have the right to vote, and why is Beyonce singing and dancing? Shouldn't she make Jay a steak? I'm sure he's very tired after walking and rapping those two songs.'"
The Parks and Recreation star went on to say many people are afraid of the word "feminist" and think it is too intense.
"That's how words work. You can't be like, 'Oh, yeah, I'm a doctor that primarily does diseases of the skin.' 'Oh, so you're a dermatologist?' 'Oh no, that's way too aggressive of a word. No, no, not at all, not at all.'"

Beyonce's feminist views have definitely been making headlines this week as singer Annie Lennox questions whether the Drunk In Love singer supports the views at all.
"It's tokenistic to me. I mean, I think she's a phenomenal artist - I just love her performances - but I'd like to sit down [with her]," Lennox told Pride Source magazine in an article published last month. "I think I'd like to sit down with quite a few artists and talk to them. I'd like to listen to them; I'd like to hear what they truly think."
