The longer Longmire goes without a network, the more likely it seems the former A&E crime drama won't return for a fourth season. Even so, fans, cast, and crew who believe in the series have kept the fight alive via social media and even those who have moved on to other projects continue to preach the gospel of Longmire.

Robert Taylor Tells 'Longmire' Fans They Need More 'Time'

Director TJ Scott, who has since gone on to direct NBC's Gotham and Constantine, has continued to lend his support online, citing the various tech and story reasons why the axed crime drama deserves another shot.

Scott certainly wasn't shy about helping out, but it does bring to question a larger issue. If producers do manage to find a new network for Longmire, will it be before cast and crew move on to new projects? Films and guest appearances wouldn't be a problem necessarily, but what if a lead such as Robert Taylor (Walt) or Katee Sackhoff (Vic) land new gigs on something more long term, like another television series?

There is still time for Longmire to return for a fourth season in 2015, but if the show does get picked up, it might be too little too late.
