While neither party ever commented on their relationship, a source revealed in April that the two were just "having fun" and "getting to know each other."
"It started very recently and quietly. It's very new," the source told Us Weekly that month. "I wouldn't even go as far as calling them a couple. They are dating. It's the first time Padma has dated anyone since Teddy and it's something she's been approaching very, very delicately."
Gere was married to actress Carey Lowell for 11 years before they separated in September 2013. They have a son together named Homer.
Lakshmi also has a 4-year-old daughter named Krishna with ex-boyfriend Adam Dell. She was married to British novelist Salman Rushdie from 2004 to 2007. Lakshmi later dated billionaire Teddy Forstmann until he passed away from brain cancer in November 2011 at the age of 71.
