'Community' Star Joel McHale Takes Football-Themed Photos For Canon’s Pixma Pro City Senses Tour in Seattle [EXCLUSIVE]
Joel McHale has mastered comedy as the longtime host of E!’s The Soup and proven his acting skills as Jeff Winger on the show Community. Now the star is trying his luck at photography.
The father of two will join Canon’s Pixma Pro City Senses tour to host a pop-up gallery in Seattle on Thursday to help demonstrate the power of a printed photograph.
"I'm really excited," the 42-year-old told Enstars.com in our exclusive interview. "To be a part of the tour to show what I do in Seattle – which is my hometown – is a perfect combination. If I have red wine, I could just die happy."
For the event, McHale took football-themed photos to showcase his love for the sport – the 6-foot-4 comedian played football for two years when he attended the University of Washington in the early ‘90s. The Deliver Us from Evil actor is also a die-hard fan of the Seattle Seahawks, who won the Super Bowl earlier this year.
“[Seattle] sports teams have always kind of been like a really, hot, crazy girlfriend, where you think they are the greatest thing ever and then they kind of disappoint you when you take them home to your parents,” he said. “But now we actually have a great team.… They are one of the best teams in football.”
McHale, who said his interest in taking pictures started with his desire to document his children’s lives, described his photography skills as “passable.”
“Obviously, I'm insanely amateur,” he said. “Good news is that there will be other, professional, accomplished photographers who will also be at the gallery too.”
Fans can view McHale’s work firsthand during a free event on Friday from 4-8 p.m. PST at the Axis Pioneer Square in Seattle.
