On Thursday Rolling Stone announced that Shelton has become the first country music performer on the Billboard Artist 100 to hit the coveted no. 1 slot.
It's been 13 years since the musician released his first single and with his latest album Bringing Back the Sunshine Shelton anaged to earn the numbers he needed to make chart-topping history.

"My last couple albums have been so positive, because when I made them I was just getting married," he told Rolling Stone. It's been an awesome place, but after a while, as a country singer, I gotta get back to singing about getting drunk… I'm bringing back some country into this thing."
It looks like getting back to his roots has paid off not just personally, but commercially and critically as well.
Lambert, who married Shelton back in 2011, also has some impressive news this week. On Tuesday the singer was named one of CMT's Artists of the Year. According to Rolling Stone Lambert is among the few women to be recognized at the ceremony this year, which will take place on Dec. 2.
Shelton and Lambert are also up for a few CMA Awards this year, a show which will be hosted by pal and fellow country artist Carrie Underwood.
The 48th Annual CMA Awards airs live on ABC Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
