The woman who plays Pepper on FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show has admitted that she is often complimented for her beauty when out of character in New Orleans.

Naomi Grossman, who played microcephalic Pepper in American Horror Story: Asylum returned to play her again in Freak Show, becoming the first character in AHS history to cross over into two different seasons. She has apparently been complimented quite frequently when she is outside of her Pepper makeup, according to her new interview with Salon.

"I've never been told I was so pretty until I played the ugliest person on TV. But now I have a twin! So now maybe he's ugliest?" she said, referring to Salty (Christopher Neiman) the other microcephalic character in Freak Show. "I kid, of course."

Grossman has gone bald for the role, and while this may be atypical in today's culture, she said that men do not seem to mind her baldness.

"You know, every day I get dressed and think, 'Who do I want to be today?' So, lately I'm enjoying being a bada- baldy! People take themselves too seriously. Especially women about their hair. I've never had more male attention than since I came here and shaved my head. I don't know if that's Nola, or my hair, or just my general swagger, but the fact is: MEN DON'T CARE."

With the series taking place 12 years before the events of Asylum, it is suggested that Pepper will eventually be sent there after the freak show shuts down. It remains to be seen if the series will cover this storyline or if it is just hinted at.

American Horror Story: Freak Show airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
