"Drumline 2" revived the story of the competitive nature of making it in a marching bands' percussion session at an HBCU, and according to the ratings, it was a hit with fans on social media.

Vh1 released a press release that shared the results of the premiere of their newest original film. The beloved story of a young person trying to make their dreams come true resonated well with social media users, especially. It might have been because many of those who utilize networks like Twitter saw the first "Drumline" movie starring Nick Cannon, but either way, it was a success.

As VH1's reports, "Drumline 2" starring Alexandra Shipp, Letoya Luckett and Jordan Calloway brought in 3.3 million viewers and was the number one trending show of the night. "According to the Nielsen SocialGuide, "Drumline: A New Beat" was the #1 most social show on all of TV last night (excluding sports) garnering over 18 twitter topics about the movie."

The release also added, "Drumline: A New Beat" was the #1 trending topic on Facebook throughout both the east and west coast premieres."

In our exclusive interview with the cast, the actors stressed the importance of doing a good job and everything they did to make sure they measured up to Nick Cannon, who made a cameo of his own, in the original film.
