Track and Field will be holding the Javelin Throw event at the Olympics. London 2012 javelin athletes are scheduled to begin qualifying rounds on Tuesday, August 7.

London 2012 Javelin athletes include Barbora Spotakova of the Czech Republic. The 31 year-old currently holds a record world record of throwing the spear 72.28 meters. Many are expecting Spotakova to set a new world record at the London games.

Qualifying rounds for the Women's Javelin Throw will take place at 5:00AM 6:25AM EST on August 7. Finals will take place on August 9 at 4:00PM EST.

In Men's Javelin Throw, Jan Zelezny of the Czech Republic set a world record of 98.48 meters in 1996. However, in 2008, Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway came close when he won for his 90.57 meter toss.

This year, Thorkildsen is expected to out throw the current record-holder.

Men's Javelin qualifications begin on August 8 at 2:05PM and finals can be seen on August 11 at 2:20PM EST.
