Even with all the divorce and cheating rumors surrounding him and wife Miranda Lambert, country singer Blake Shelton still likes singing about pretty girls.

Miranda Lambert Expected To Win Big At CMA Awards

"I like pretty girls…" said Shelton during an interview with Norah O'Donnell for CBS' 60 Minutes on Sunday. "And I like drinking. And I like singing about it. So get over it. That's my take on it."

It seems the country singer did have experience being around "pretty girls" very early on in life, explaining that his mother had entered in in beauty patents as a child.

Twitter Might Be Hurting Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert

"She knew she had a kid that she wanted to get on stage and she put me in the damn pageant…" he revealed. "[It was] mostly all girls. I mean, because what boy from Ada, Oklahoma would want to be in the Miss Valentine Pageant, right?"

As awkward as it was to be the only boy in a beauty pageant, Shelton admitted that the early experience taught him a lot. "I learned that it was more to it than just coming up here and singing a song and walking off. I knew I wasn't a good enough singer for that just to be the thing," he continued. "You got to perform but you also got to entertain. You got to make people laugh. You got to tell a joke or a story. Make the most of the time that you're out here so that people remember you when you walk away."

Such charisma and memorability has not only made Shelton a popular artist, it has also brought him great success as a mentor on NBC's The Voice. While he enjoys filming the program, he admitted that he's always eager to get out of Los Angeles.

"I am leaving Hollywood. Thank you, God," declared Shelton in regards to when production for The Voice ends. The singer is more than thrilled to return to Oklahoma, where he and Lambert live peacefully on their ranch. Referring to the home as the only place where they truly get privacy, Shelton chose not to show O'Donnell around inside, though he did take the time on Twitter Monday to thank her later on for the interview.

Shelton and Lambert, who have spent months apart touring this fall, will reunite this Wednesday for the CMA Awards, where both are nominees.

The 48th Annual CMA Awards air live on ABC Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m.
