According to McCarthy, she posted a statement on Twitter Sept. 5 about the recent hacking scandal and getting older.

Shortly after posting the comment, another wave of photos was released online, at which point McCarthy got a surprising call.
"I get a phone call from the FBI that says you're part of the latest leak…" she explained, adding "You [automatically] think of every single picture you have ever taken."
She "panicked" after hearing the news, quickly going online to look and see for herself. While McCarthy considered the "real nude" photos of her to be mostly "classy shots" she noted that some of the pictures portrayed as nudes were really from comedy skits taken completely out of context.
"These explicit ones aren't me," she told her PR people and was able to joke about the whole thing, though McCarthy does consider the scandal to be a serious thing and a complete "violation" for those involved.
McCarthy has since been asked why she cares that her photos were leaked, and her answer was a basic as it gets.
"[It] is illegal," she declared, "And an invasion of privacy."
