Just before the premiere of Lifetime's Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B, it looks like Aaliyah's brother Rashad Haughton dissed Alexandra Shipp on Twitter.

Haughton bashed Shipp's acting skills during the premiere of VH1's Drumline: A New Beat, which Shipp also starred in on Oct. 27.
Haughton retweeted, "Alexandra Shipp can't act and this new Drumline movie already makes me not want to watch her in the Aaliyah movie."

Fans instantly caught wind of the tweets and one captured it with a screenshot.
Others reacted with their own comments.
One uploaded a gif of Taylor Swift giving out an award. They added the caption, "And the shade award goes to Rashad Houghton for flawlessly shading @AlexShipppp with just 1 retweet."
Another posted a gif of Lauren Conrad drinking what looks like tea and wrote, "Well, even Rashad thinks you have crappy acting baby. But that ain't Team Aaliyah's business though."
Shipp has faced harsh criticism from fans of the late singer on Twitter. They went in droves to their Twitter accounts to express their disagreement and dislike for Shipp taking on the role. Granted, it is not clear if fans would have been happy with anyone playing Aaliyah considering the film has been surrounded by controversy since it was announced that it would hit the small screen.
One fan shared a gif of the Resolution singer pointing at a camera and tweeted, "Liyah pointing at Shippwreck to come hang her out...hurry up peasant she tryna dance...."
Another fan found humor in the idea of Shipp covering Aaliyah's songs. Shipp had to sing the tunes herself as the film could not get the rights to Aaliyah's music.
"Alex Shipp re-recorded all of Aaliyah's music...Nobody will ever be able to portray Aaliyah in a light that does her any justice. She created something new and unobtainable."
Some laughed at Shipp trying to pass off as Aaliyah period.
One tweeted a picture of Shipp and Aaliyah side by side with the caption, "Can you help me see where the resemblance is! I can't find it sweetie!"
Another presented a lineup with a pictures of other stars who have played in notable biopics before, such as Jennifer Lopez as Selena, Angela Bassett as Tina Turner and Drew Sidora, Lil Mama and Keke Palmer, who played the members of TLC.
They wrote, "Does this bother you @AlexShipppp".
But fortunately it was not all bad news for the singer. Some Aaliyah fans have warmed up to her portraying the singer.
One wrote, "Died a Princess, But will forever be a Queen in our hearts. iBelieve in you @AlexShipppp cant wait to see you kill it".
Another added, "Alexandra Shipp is #lowkey winning. She did the Drumline sequel, plays Aaliyah in the TV film and will be in the NWA movie."
Shipp recently spoke out on the criticism she has faced ever since agreeing to play Aaliyah.
She told ExtraTV recently, "It's been hard, you know? When people sit behind a computer screen they can say some very mean things. At the same time, I know why I did this movie. Because I am a huge fan of Aaliyah.
"Because I know way too many people who have never heard of her. I think the fans will love this movie. It celebrates this woman. For me, that's why I wanted to do it. Because I wanted to be a part of the celebration."
