She followed the tweet with a photo and the caption, "I'm a redhead! Thanks @NeginZand. You rock, lady. Xo."
The Helix actress recently signed on to play the mysterious character and will make her first appearance in January.
"After 12 seasons there was still one ex-wife to cast opposite Gibbs and we found her in the beautiful and talented Jeri Ryan," executive producer Gary Glasberg said in a statement. "We're all very excited to have Jeri join us for a storyline that's chock full of surprises."
Gibbs has had several relationships play out throughout the show. He was first married to Shannon (Darby Stanchfield), but she and their daughter, Kelly, tragically died in a car crash.
His second wife was Diane (Mad Men's Melinda McGraw), who is also the ex-wife of Agent Tobias Fornell. Diane appeared in the season 11 episode "Devil Triad," which aired last December. And after Rebecca, Gibbs tied the knot to Stephanie, played by West Wing star Kathleen York.
NCIS airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
