While there are plenty of computers and entertainment systems discounted this month for Black Friday, there are also some great deals available for homeowners.

Shoppers looking to update their homes with practical smart devises might do best to take a look this season, with savings in some of the most unlikely places.

On Monday CNET announced the latest savings for Best Buy shoppers this holiday season.

From Nov. 27 until Dec. 1, the retailer will be offering $100 off the 720p HD resolution Dropcam, with the web cam going for just $49 (originally $149).

For more practically minded consumers, Best Buy will also offer the Phillips Hue Starter Kit for $200 with a free Phillips Hue Bloom Accent light (originally $80). These lights can change colors and brightness all using wireless technology, which could give a modern look to any space.

With winter on its way, some might be looking for a new thermostat and Best Buy wants consumers to know that it has them covered. The Nest smart thermostat will be on sale via the retailer at the end of the month for $200 (originally $250).

All of these discounts will be available online, which means shoppers won't have to fear the abrasive Black Friday in-store experience which stretches across all retailers this time of year.

This year Black Friday is officially on Nov. 28, though many stores elected to start with early savings as to capitalize on the season, debuting many discounts as early as Nov. 1.
