Plane Crash Caught on Tape Video Goes Viral: Passengers Lucky to Be Alive [Video,Photos]
A frightening video of a plane crash has been caught on tape by witnesses of the incident. A seven minute video has been released, which captured the terrifying crash and its aftermath. The video, taped by passenger Nathan Williams, captures the plane taking off from a runway in central Idaho and heading towards a mountain resort. However, the plane quickly loses altitude after a few minutes and crashes into the trees.
38-year-old Williams told AP: "It wasn't anything we were trying to film. It was a beautiful day and we were just really having fun recording what we were doing." He said he was lucky to be alive.
Miraculously, no deaths resulted from the crash. The pilot, Les Gropp, suffered serious injuries, including a broken jaw, ribs and fractured cheekbone. Two other passengers and Williams were not seriously injured.
"Les was really the only one who had some lasting damage, but even he's going to be fine," said Williams.
The crash happened June 30 and the video was only just posted online this week by Williams so he could show his friends and family. The video has since gone viral. "You see how fast something happens, something that's life-threatening. That's kind of people's worst fears and it kind of came true for us, in a way."
