Lone Survivor star Taylor Kitsch is also confirmed as Paul Woodrugh, "a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened."
The three cast members join Vaughan and Colin Farrell, who were both confirmed for the anticipated second season in September.
Vaughan's character is described as "a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner." Farrell's Ray Velcoro, is "a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him."
Season two of True Detective is being filmed in California and is expected to premiere next summer. It will follow a highly successful first season, which featured Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and (Marty Hart) Woody Harrelson as polar opposite detectives working for years to solve a murder case. The finale in March brought in a whopping 3.5 million viewers.
