Brazil eased their way into this final game by cruising past South Korea in their semi final. Even though Brazil have struggled to hit top gear in some games during the 2012 tournament they were on form against the Koreans and smashed in three goals to claims a convincing 3-0 victory.
Romulo opened the scoring in that game with a first time strike following a perfect pass from Oscar. Brazil also have the tournament's top scorer in their ranks in Leandro Damiao, who has scored six so far, including two in the second half against South Korea.
Brazil have never won the men's soccer gold medal in the Olympics before, and they are desperate to claim the one accolade missing from their footballing history. They have scored 15 goals in five games now and seem to be hitting their best form at the right end of the Olympic tournament.
However, the most successful South American football team in history will be up against an impressive Mexico side. The Mexicans had an amazing game in their semi final against Japan, and showed evidence that they will be serious challengers for the gold medal.
In that game Japan took an early lead in the 12th minute when Yuki Otsu scored a stunning early strike from long range. Mexico had their backs against the wall, as Japan had not conceded a single goal in the Olympic tournament until that point meaning Mexico would have to do what no other side had done just to pull level. However, the Mexican response was conclusive, and they they were the better side from that point onwards. Marco Fabian equalized and Oribe Peralta and Javier Cortes also scored to claim the 3-1 victory.
Prediction: Despite Mexico's impressive form, most pundits would predict that Brazil will be too strong for their Latin American rivals, and they will claim their first ever men's soccer Olympic gold medal on Saturday.
