Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher recalled on a horrifying incident that allegedly took place when she was a child that led her into an emotional moment.

On Tuesday, the actress spoke at a United Nations event commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women where she talked about something personal that happened to her when she was only seven-years-old. She revealed that her uncle molested her.
"I was convinced it was my fault and I blamed myself for what happened, so I didn't tell anyone and I was silent," Hatcher said, as posted by Yahoo! "I did however, unsurprisingly, start to act out and my mother decided to keep me away from my uncle. I didn't see him anymore, but no one in my family ever asked exactly what happened. We remained silent."
Teri Hatcher Was A 'Loner' On 'Desperate Housewives?'
The actress continued her story of how she told her parents about what happened to her when she was 18 by writing her words in a journal.
Back in 2006, she had brought up the incident with Vanity Fair when news got out a few years earlier that a 14-year-old victim of her uncle had committed suicide.
"I was just blown away by this young girl's pain," Hatcher told the magazine, posted on Today. "I thought, boy, that's really close to being me. Any day of the week I could feel that sort of pain. I haven't tried to kill myself, but I've certainly thought about it."
